Furniture is the most commonly stored item, followed by clothing

According to a new report by StorageCafe, self-storage has recently become more popular in the United States, helping people in many life-changing cases.

StorageCafe reports that about 6 million homes were sold in the real estate market last year – the highest number in 15 years – and separate storage was a major factor in the change among families. Self-storage has proven to be suitable for both homeowners and tenants who have used it to better manage their belongings without damaging their living space.

People across the United States are increasingly using 1.5 billion square feet of storage space. More than 38 percent of people declared themselves to be self-care by 2021, from 2020, when about 33 percent said they had changed their Self-Storage. Tenants (36%) and landlords (33%) have similar rates.

According to tradition, the generations of Gen Xers and the baby boom have begun to survive in greater numbers than other ages, and 2021 is no exception. StorageCafe reports that 1 in three Americans place furniture in a warehouse, which is the most common item kept away from home, followed by clothing. There is also talk of clothing, sporting goods, entertainment equipment, and business. Cars, trailers, and boats are also stored.

For both home and homeowners, furniture is the number one item kept away from home, but it is more common. When it comes to the type of furniture to be stored, clothing is second only to tenants, while for homeowners the furniture section is ahead of the list of common items.

Furnished is a widespread stock in many states except Hawaii and Idaho, where residents enjoy storing furniture and furnishings. In addition, clothing is the first item that Ohio and Utah residents store in a storage room.

There are many situations where people turn to storage, but the main reason for Americans renting is a size reduction, followed by walking (out) and the need for more storage space at home.
